Graphic Design Thesis:
A Page Out of Their Book

Children's books have existed for centuries, and with such an extended period of time, the design of them has gone through several changes. Improvements in technology, new artists adding their contributions, and differing mediums all contribute to these changes.

My thesis was to illustrate a single children's story inspired by past eras of children's book design -- as many as I can identify. Starting from simple woodblock prints and all the way to digital illustration, each page is a different design and illustration style, as a way to see side-by-side the differences.

Progress of one of the wood block/wood engraving illustrations. The effect was replicated by making a digital illustration and then vectorizing the image to give it a more jagged effect.
